A huge database of photos and videos of private Snapchat was intercepted and then released by hackers that had been collecting for years. Users confused for this and have called this incident Snappening, this is much bigger than the scandal iCloud intended to reveal images of celebrities.
Spaces clandestine chat photo sharing type, were flooded in recent weeks with clues that something big may be happening. On Thursday night (last night) there was finally a confirmation, an app for others to Snapchat had been collecting each of the pictures and videos that were sent through it for years, giving hackers access to 13GB of information that users thought had "disappeared"
4chan users have downloaded the files and creating a database in which those affected can find your photos through your stolen username Snapchat.
The files were mentioned in a page called viralpop.com a false competition site that installed malicious software on computers trying to access it. The site was already suspended and dropped from the network, although it is possible that thousands of people have done with that Snapchats unauthorized collection.
But an anonymous source contacted Business Insider to tell you that the site was affected SnapSaved.com, service acting as a client to the Snapchat web application that allows users to receive and store photos and videos online, so that users do not know is that those images were being collected, and also related to their usernames.
Snapsaved disappeared several months ago, the URL now redirects to an e-commerce site that sells Danish digital television boxes and TV antennas. Many of the images have intercepted messages in Danish superimposed.
What we do not know is whether or Snapsaved Snapsave were created with the purpose of intercepting pictures, maybe were just victims of hackers who had access to the servers.
Snapchat confirmed to Business Insider that the images came from third-party sites, denying their own servers were at risk:
It is not the first time that users Snapchat are compromised their safety, my suggestion is, if you want to be replicated, not send through any means known, it is not even take that picture or the video, " security "on the Internet, is anything but absolute.

We confirm that Snapchat servers have never had a security breach and neither are the source of these leaks. The Snapchatters were victimized by their use of third-party applications to send and receive Snaps, a practice that we expressly forbid our Terms of Use, precisely because they compromise the safety of our users. We we constantly monitor the App Store and Google Play for illegal third party applications and have achieved many of them are removed.4chan users say that photo collection there are a lot of child pornography, including many videos sent between teens who believed the files would be deleted immediately after being viewed.
