Aluminum battery can be charged within one minute

Is this the breakthrough in battery technology for electronic devices such as smartphones and tablets? Scientists at Stanford University have developed a battery of aluminum and graphite that can be charged within one minute, is heat-resistant, flexible and malleable.

The smartphone battery fully recharged within a minute - this is one of Stanford University researchers developed aluminum battery provide. The new cordless Typo to several thousand charge cycles without loss of capacity to survive, malleable and flexible, and thus be suitable for use in flexible devices and also not overheat or explode. Hongjie Dai , a professor at the chemistry department at Stanford University, sees the new battery type as environmentally friendly and safe alternative to alkaline and lithium-ion batteries, which are used in electronic devices such as smartphones and tablets, as well as the area of renewable energies for storage in the power grid.

“This was the first time an ultra-fast aluminium-ion battery was constructed with stability over thousands of cycles,”
For decades scientists have been researching aluminum-ion batteries, but had so far failed to produce a commercially viable prototype. Dais development could be the breakthrough for batteries with aluminum. The material is not only because of the higher security and high capacity is an attractive material, but also because of low prices. While the negatively charged cathode of the new battery type is made of aluminum, is the positively charged anode of graphite.

The rechargeable battery provides aluminum with 2 volts just over 1.5 volts strong AA and AAA batteries, but only about half the power of conventional lithium-ion batteries.
